Stojanović: The injury was stronger, but we’re moving on!
Serbian tennis player Nina Stojanović lost today’s match against Rebecca Peterson with 2:1 in sets (7:5,1:6,0:6). Commenting on the match, she stated that her game today was not at the highest possible level, that she entered the tournament with an injury, but that she did not want to give up on an opportunity to compete in Belgrade.
“The injury happened in Madrid, I did not train, my desire to play in Belgrade was too great, I endured the first set, and then I couldn’t run anymore, I made mistakes because I was trying to shorten the points. I am sorry that I did not demonstrate my tennis level, but we’re moving on, there will be matches and wins, and I’m certainly staying positive.”
Asked how this injury would influence her participation in Roland-Garros, Nina stated that she hoped she would be competing, that she would monitor the situation every day and continue treatment until Paris. She will not be participating in the tournament in Strasbourg next week, so she hopes that will help her train more and focus on Roland-Garros.
She adds that she will try to heal her muscle, that there are many tournaments this year, and that it is normal to want to play every tournament, but that health comes first.
