WTA more demanding for organizing, more liberal protocol for ATP

Đorđe Đoković, director of the tournament, says that at this moment, the women’s tournament is more demanding in an organizational sense, because ATP introduced new protocols which allow players to be more free and move outside of the “bubble”, while that is not the case for WTA players.

“ATP players do not have to be at their hotel the whole day. They can go out to restaurants and shopping malls. That’s absolutely good and positive news. Our tournament week will be the first one to have such liberalized protocols. There are positive reactions from players and we can’t wait for them to come and be perhaps in an even better mood than in April,” said Đorđe Đoković, director of the tournament.

These rules will not apply to WTA players: “The women tennis players will have to be in some sort of isolation and quarantine, so in that sense, the organization of the WTA tournament is more demanding. As for us in the Novak Tennis Centre itself, there are absolutely no changes and differences, we want to protect the player to the maximum degree, to make them as isolated and protected as possible.”
